DeLonghi Compact Automatic Cappuccino, Latte and Espresso Machine Product Review
You know those giant machines that coffee shops use to brew your cup of coffee? Word on the street says that unless you have that huge hunk in your kitchen, you’ll never be able to achieve the same taste. Mr. Word would be wrong on this one though. DeLonghi made the Magnifica precisely for this purpose, to give you the same taste and quality as you’d get in a coffee shop right in your home without occupying half of your kitchen or needing an industrial power generator just to operate it. In fact it is really compact even by today’s home coffee machines standards. Make no mistake though; comparing this bad boy to a coffee machine is like comparing the Terminator to your electric shaver. To put it bluntly, it is an intelligent robot that has a single purpose in life – make your cup of coffee exactly as you demand it, from the first molecule down to the last and it’s not going to stop for anything until the mission is accomplished. This machine doesn’t joke around, that’s for sure.
Current technology doesn’t just mean more features, in fact it means getting those features in smaller packages. Magnifica manages to cram an entire giant, heavy (and a bit ugly to be honest) commercial coffee machine into a compact cube that not only takes just a fraction of the space but looks much better too. Ultra modern color scheme of piano black, matte black and silver makes it really eye catching but not so much to stick out like a sore thumb. It’s just enough to be tasteful.
Functions are plentiful for the explorers among you and nobody will be left longing, that’s for sure. There’s no automatic frother that is arrogant enough to assume how much foam you’d like. This one is fully manual. Go ahead, knock yourself out. Put as much or as little foam as you’d like. What the frother does assume though is that you’d like a rich, decadent cloud of deliciousness on your drink and it delivers just that, nothing more, nothing less.
The Magnifica is based on the Constant brewing method and it brews each cup automatically to the perfect temperature, richness and density but not before you tell it what you consider as perfection. You see, personal taste is not something that should be debated. Sure, polls might say that 90% of people like a medium density, strong and hot coffee but you’re much more than a statistic and the Magnifica lets you know that. You tell the machine what you like and let it do its magic.
While on the topic of brewing and options, the Magnifica doesn’t limit you on capsules or grind sizes. We already told you that you’re the center of attention and therefore Magnifica comes with an integrated grinder and two separate compartments. Want to grind your own beans? Go right ahead, adjust the size, time or any other parameter. Don’t want to bother grinding or want decaf? Put pre-ground coffee in the second compartment. Whatever you want, as long as you’re happy.
The customization goes even deeper and you’re given the chance to go into detail when it comes to designing your beverage. Of course, the Magnifica will remember all settings and store them for future use. This doesn’t mean that you have to go through complex settings for each cup though, you can actually have a cup nearly instantly with the No waiting option. The Rapid Cappucino system will immediately brew a cup for you since the system maintains optimal temperature. The ease of use extends in the menus as well despite the intimidating review. What the Magnifica lacks in simplicity, it certainly makes up in intuitive menus. You immediately know which button does what, everything makes sense and is logical.
You’ll be happy to know that maintenance has never been easier as well. All parts are dishwasher safe and this thing even has a myriad of sensors which will tell you when it’s time to clean. Now, if it could only clean the bathroom and make the bed…
